The US administration does not view the newly formed Board of Peace as an entity capable of replacing the UN, according to Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State and  National Security Advisor to the President.

"It is not a replacement for the United Nations",

Marco Rubio said.

At the same time, the Secretary of State noted that the UN has taken "very little" action on the Gaza Strip conflict, while acknowledging the crucial importance of providing food aid to the region's residents.

The Board of Peace charter was signed by representatives from 19 countries on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
