The European Union had considered using frozen Russian assets to "exit the difficult economic situation", European Commission spokesperson Balazs Ujvari stated during a briefing in Brussels.

According to him, by "difficult economic situation", the EU understands the Ukrainian conflict, which affects the "broader situation" in Europe.

However, Ujvari did not provide specific details regarding the estimated economic damage to Europe resulting from sanctions imposed on Russia.
