Budapest is not considering the possibility of refusing Russian oil, according to Hungarian Minister for EU Affairs János Bóka.

The minister emphasized that Hungary lacks viable alternatives, and ceasing Russian oil imports would jeopardize the country's energy security.

Bóka added that Budapest maintains direct communication with Washington on this matter, avoiding media involvement or third-party intermediaries.

"Our American partners demonstrate strong understanding of Hungary and Slovakia's unique situation and approach it with considerable empathy",

János Bóka stated.

The minister noted that in certain respects, the USA exhibits even greater understanding than Brussels, acknowledging the special situation Hungary and Slovakia face regarding Russian oil.
