Erdoğan appoints COP31 President

The president of the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) has been appointed in Türkiye, according to Turkish media reports.

Murat Kurum, Türkiye's Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, will assume the role. The appointment was made by presidential decree.

The COP31 summit is scheduled to take place in Antalya from November 9 to 20 next year.

Türkiye will host COP31 following Brazil's hosting of the current COP30 session. Azerbaijan hosted the previous COP29 conference.
