The European Commission stated that restrictions against Russia should remain in effect even after the conflict in Ukraine concludes. According to EU Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen, Brussels will never again purchase Russian energy.
"We must stop importing Russian energy as soon as possible, and in my opinion, the EU should not import Russian energy in the future even after a peace agreement is concluded in Ukraine. So these sanctions are not temporary, they will remain, and in my opinion, we will never again import Russian energy after a peace agreement is concluded",
Dan Jørgensen said.
The European Commission is currently developing plans to completely halt purchases of Russian energy resources within the next two years.
It should be noted that the EU authorities intend to introduce the 19th package of sanctions against Moscow in September
