Iran is interested in importing gas from Russia and Turkmenistan, Iranian Deputy Minister of Petroleum and National Gas Company Executive Director Saeed Tavakkoli announcee during a briefing.
Tavakkoli confirmed the negotiations and expressed optimism about reaching agreements with both countries.
Iran anticipates a gas deficit of up to 300 million cubic meters per day this winter, potentially reaching 350-400 million cubic meters in peak periods. Authorities are implementing measures to reduce the shortfall and manage supply effectively.
Despite the projected deficit, Iran plans to maintain gas export levels to Turkey, consistent with last year's volumes. The current supply agreement remains valid until 2026, with discussions ongoing regarding its extension.
Iran's domestic gas production exceeds 1 billion cubic meters daily.
