The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has announced new sanctions against Iranian officials.
According to the US Treasury Department, the sanctions include Ali Larijani, born in 1958, who is associated with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The sanctions list also includes 10 other Iranian citizens as well as 13 companies registered in Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore.
These measures coincide with ongoing large-scale protests in Iran that began in late 2025, triggered by the drastic devaluation of the national currency and severe inflation.
