Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said the situation in Iran is "under total control" following violence linked to protests over the weekend.

“After three days of terrorist operation, now there is a calm. We are in full control,” Araghchi said.

According to the diplomat, the demonstrations were "stoked and fuelled" by foreign elements, and security forces would "hunt down" those responsible.

A protest broke out in Iran late last month over a sharp depreciation of the rial. It soon spiraled into nationwide unrest, with clashes reported between police and protesters.
