Female Iranian karateka Atousa Golshadnezhad made history after winning a gold medal at the World Karate Championships in Cairo as the first Iranian woman.
She defeated China’s Gong Li 4-2 in the final match of the Female Kumite -61kg on Sunday.
Golshadnezhad’s decisive victory secured Iran’s first-ever women’s gold medal in senior world karate competitions.
The Iranian karate team also won a silver and a bronze medals in the event and finished in second place.
