The Israeli government has given instructions to the Israel Defense Forces to stop its offensive aimed at seizing Gaza City, the Israeli Army Radio (Galei Tzahal) said.
According to the report, the order was issued following consultations and contacts with the US authorities that followed Hamas’s consent to U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.
Following the response from Hamas, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel was immediately implementing the first phase of Trump's plan to free all hostages.
"After overnight assessments of the situation and negotiations with American representatives, the Israeli political leadership instructed the IDF to reduce its activity in Gaza "to a minimum" and to conduct only defensive actions in the Gaza Strip," the report reads.
Galei Tzahal specified that this effectively means a halt to the operation to seize Gaza.
