Israel is set to expand its defense budget by tens of billions of shekels to fund the war with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

He hailed Israel’s accomplishments in the ongoing campaign that the U.S. and Israel launched against Iran on February 28 in Iran.

"It all costs money. A lot of money. Therefore, we are in need of a special budget including tens of billions of shekels to boost defense expenditure,” Netanyahu said.

The supplement is part of a revised 2026 budget that will be debated and possibly voted on late Tuesday by Netanyahu’s cabinet. It will then need a sign-off from parliament by the end of the month.
