Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the discovery of substantial natural gas reserves located at an unprecedented depth of 6,500 meters during exploration in the Ustyurt region.
While previous oil and gas exploration reached depths of 2,500-3,000 meters, this finding represents a breakthrough in the country's energy sector development, according to Podrobno.uz.
The president also revealed significant discoveries of tellurium, lithium, selenium, graphite, molybdenum, tungsten, titanium, and other rare earth elements, accounting for 10-15% of Central Asia's total reserves.
"These substantial resources must be transformed into high value-added products. This requires science, knowledge, and innovation,"
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated.
