Washington has so far been unable to secure an agreement with any country regarding deploying troops to a proposed international peacekeeping force for the Gaza Strip, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports.

The US State Department has sent approximately 70 requests to various governments, but has not yet received a firm commitment to deploy soldiers. According to the report, allied governments are concerned that such a force would be drawn into military operations aimed at disarming Hamas.

Middle Eastern nations are discussing funding for the mission, with 19 countries expressing a general willingness to support this initiative in some form.

Delegations from 25 countries are expected to discuss the operational details of the peacekeeping mission during talks scheduled in Qatar next week.
