Moscow, Beijing and Tehran call on UN not to allow sanctions against Iran

In a joint letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on the Security Council to prevent the resumption of sanctions.

"We urge the UN Security Council members to reject the initiative of France, Germany and the UK to activate the sanctions restoration mechanism and to reaffirm their commitment to the principles of international law and multilateral diplomacy",

the Foreign Ministers of Iran, Russia and China said.

The diplomats emphasized that three European countries should abandon its destructive approach toward Iran.

Let us remind you that at the end of August, the Foreign Ministers of the UK, Germany and France announced the launch of the snapback mechanism, which will restore international anti-Iranian sanctions.
