Netanyahu names Iran's first possible goal in obtaining nuclear weapons

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has claimed that Iran would attack the United States with nuclear weapons if the Islamic Republic obtains them.

"If they had nuclear bombs, Iran, to put on ballistic missiles that would ultimately reach the United States," Netanyahu said.

He stressed that would have endangered every person in the U.S.

"We acted on it, and we acted on it together, and we changed the Middle East," Netanyahu said.

Overnight into June 13, Israel launched a military operation against Iran. Less than 24 hours later, Tehran retaliated. Nine days later, U.S. jets targeted three Iranian nuclear sites, effectively entering the conflict. The following evening, Iran carried out a missile strike on the U.S. military base in Qatar. The truce took effect on June 24.
