The settlement of Yablonovsky in Adygea's Takhtamukaysky District will be granted official city status, Murat Kumpilov, the Head of the Republic of Adygea, announced.

"We are approaching the point of granting [Yablonovsky - the editor's note] city status; the village's activists have already applied several times",

Murat Kumpilov said.

The Head of the Republic specified the timeline, stating the formal process will take about one and a half years, meaning Yablonovsky will become a city by mid-2027.

Kumpilov noted that Yablonovsky is the second-largest settlement in Adygea by population, after the capital city of Maykop.
