Portugal Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel issued a statement declaring his country's recognition of Palestine, according to the television channel SIC Notícias.
Rangel emphasized Portugal's support for a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Recognition of Palestine is also anticipated from Belgium, Andorra, Malta, Luxembourg, and San Marino.
This follows yesterday's recognition by the UK, Canada, and Australia.
Earlier reports indicated that ten states plan to recognize Palestine during the UN General Assembly.
