Russian leader Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The parties focused on the situation in Iran and the Middle East, with the Russian president declaring Moscow's intention to promote regional stability.
"The situation in the Middle East and Iran were discussed. Vladimir Putin outlined fundamental approaches in favor of intensifying political and diplomatic steps to ensure stability and security in the region. Russia's readiness to continue to undertake appropriate mediation efforts and promote constructive dialogue with the participation of all interested states was confirmed",
the Kremlin reported.
Both leaders expressed their intention to maintain contacts at various levels. This follows their previous conversation in November, which addressed the situations in Gaza and Syria, as well as Iran's nuclear program.
