Discussions between Russia and the United States on resuming direct flights will continue until the end of the month, according to head of the International Affairs Committee of the Federation Council Grigory Karasin.
Grigory Karasin said that the Moscow-Washington dialogue on air travel will last until the end of October. He emphasized that the issue of restoring direct aviation links is a top priority, alongside normalizing the operations of Russian embassies and consulates in the U.S.
"This is one of the priorities that will demonstrate the ability to bring relations out of a deep impasse. These negotiations are ongoing and, as I understand it, will continue until the end of October," Grigory Karasin said.
The senator is convinced that the current situation must be rectified, and that this is the task of sober-minded diplomacy, the Izvestia newspaper reported.
Previously, it was reported that a third round of negotiations between Moscow and Washington on "irritants" is planned for this autumn.
