The Russian Foreign Ministry has called on Russian citizens currently in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible, specifying the available exit routes.
The Russian foreign ministry advised compatriots who are in Iran amid the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation to depart immediately if possible. The recommended evacuation routes are through Astara into Azerbaijan and via the Nurduz/Agarak checkpoint into Armenia.
"Optimal routes for exiting Iran are through Astara to Azerbaijan and through the Nurduz/Agarak checkpoint to Armenia. Travelers are advised to exercise utmost caution and remain vigilant," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Border crossings in both countries remain open for now. However, the ministry noted that crossing via Astara requires obtaining prior authorization from Azerbaijani authorities.
For those who had planned to visit Iran for tourism or other purposes in the near future, the Foreign Ministry recommended postponing their trips until further notice.
