Russia is waiting for U.S. President Donald Trump to make a return visit, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, TASS reported.

"Our president said this following his participation in the summit in Alaska. He made the relevant statements. And I can also quote him. He publicly invited the U.S. president to Russia," the Russian diplomat said.

Responding to a follow-up question about the possible timing of Trump's visit, she explained that "this is the responsibility of the presidential administration."

"As for all other details, this is up to the administrations of the presidents of both our country and the U.S.," Maria Zakharova said.

On August 15, Putin and Trump met at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Alaska. During a joint press conference with Putin after their meeting in Anchorage in August, Trump responded to an invitation to visit Moscow by saying he was considering it.
