Russian UN Mission expresses condolences regarding Swiss resort tragedy

Diplomats at the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN in Geneva expressed condolences over the tragedy at the Crans-Montana resort, which claimed dozens of lives.

"The Russian Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva received with regret the message about the tragedy that occurred in Crans-Montana, the Canton of Valais... We express our condolences to the families and friends of the victims, and wish a speedy recovery to the injured",

the statement reads.

The January 1 fire at Le Constellation bar claimed the lives of approximately 40 people and caused over 100 injuries, with around 20 victims sustaining 60% body surface burns.
