Sergey Lavrov and Marco Rubio hold phone talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio by phone on Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"On October 20, a phone conversation was held between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio," the statement reads.

The ministry noted that a constructive discussion of potential specific steps in the interests of implementing the understandings reached during the October 16 phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump was held.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that no agreement about the time and place of  the Lavrov-Rubio meeting has been reached, as everything is still under consideration.
