State Department refutes reports of US plans for $60 billion Gaza reconstruction grant

The US government has no plans to provide grants or financial guarantees for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, according to the US State Department. The report refers to information about $60 billion in funding.

"This is fake news. Nowhere in the plan does it say the U.S. will pay $60 billion",

the US State Department said.

The information follows a Wall Street Journal article alleging the US was prepared to offer $60 billion in grant support. The report also claimed US envoy Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner authored "Project Dawn," a $100 billion initiative to transform Gaza into a "glittering metropolis."
