Authorities in Tehran, Iran's capital, are building underground shelters that can accommodate 2.5 mln people if necessary.
Underground shelters are currently being established in Tehran, Ali Nasiri, head of the Tehran Crisis Management Organization, informed.
According to him, over 300 underground spaces, such as parking lots and metro stations, are being converted to shelters.
The relevant statement was made amid rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly around Iran: the confrontation between Tehran and Washington on the global stage has been steadily escalating recently.
