Tokayev appoints new Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has appointed Yermek Kosherbayev, formerly Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia, as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"To appoint Yermek Bedelbayevich Kosherbayev as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, relieving him of his previous position",

Decree of the President of Kazakhstan reads.

Kosherbayev served as Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia from 2020 to 2023.

In a related move, Tokayev dismissed Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurleu, who has been appointed Assistant to the President for International Investment and Trade Cooperation.
