Tony Blair, who served as British Prime Minister from 1997 to 2007, may become head of the Gaza Strip administration after the situation is resolved, according to The Economist.
The proposed transitional governing body is part of a peace plan developed by the Tony Blair Institute with Washington's support. This administration would serve as the "supreme political and legitimate authority" under a five-year UN mandate.
A seven-member council, expected to be chaired by the 72-year-old Blair, would oversee governance. A source noted Blair is "willing to sacrifice his time" for this role.
U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff supports Blair's candidacy. However, key regional actors—including Israel, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and Hamas—are likely to oppose his appointment.
