Trump plans to speak with Putin within seven days

U.S. President Donald Trump expects to hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin either this week or at the beginning of next week.

"Yes, it will happen," he said, referring to a possible phone call with the Russian leader.

"I think this week or early next week," Trump said.

Earlier, the U.S. president said he expects to speak with the Russian leader in the coming days.

"We're having a very good dialogue," Trump said.

On August 15, the Russian and U.S. leaders met at a military base in Alaska. The three-hour meeting was the first summit between the leaders since Trump was reelected.
