Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump have presented a united front and heaped praise on each other as they held another meeting to discuss the tensions in the Middle East at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
“We’re with you, and we’ll continue to be with you, and a lot of good things are happening in the Middle East. We have peace in the Middle East, and we’re going to try and keep it that way. I think we will be very successful in keeping it that way,” Trump said.
The U.S. leader said he and Netanyahu had what he called an “understanding” regarding Syria. He said he was sure that Israel and Syria’s new leader Ahmad al-Sharaa.
"I will make it so that they do get along,” Trump said.
Speaking at the news conference, the Israeli PM said Trump would be recognised with the annual Israel Prize, considered the country’s highest honour.
Netanyahu added that it was the first time in history that the prize had not been given to an Israeli citizen.
