United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres may visit Azerbaijan. The corresponding invitation was extended to him by the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade.
Azerbaijani media report the religious leader invited Guterres to attend an event focusing on inter-Islamic dialogue and the fight against Islamophobia.
The meeting, scheduled for 2026 in Azerbaijan, will be jointly organized by the Muslim Council of Elders and the UN Alliance of Civilizations.
Guterres previously visited Baku in November 2024 to participate in the COP-29 climate conference.
