Ships of the U.S. Navy will begin escorting tankers in the Strait of Hormuz if the need arises, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced.
"If necessary, the United States Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, as soon as possible," Donald Trump said.
Earlier, Iran's Revolutionary Guards declared the Strait of Hormuz closed, threatening to fire on any ship attempting passage.
