US assesses Ukraine peace process after Abu Dhabi meeting

The Ukraine peace process is in a great place following the "historic trilateral meeting" between Russia, the U.S. and Ukraine in Abu Dhabi , White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said, the Financial Times reported.

"The negotiation process, which is in a great place after this weekend's historic trilateral meeting in Abu Dhabi," Anna Kelly said.

On January 23, the first day of trilateral security consultations took place in Abu Dhabi. A second meeting was held on January 24. On January 24, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed plans for a new round of trilateral talks this week.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the very fact that these contacts have begun in a constructive way can be assessed positively, but there is still serious work ahead.
