A loan agreement was signed in Bishkek to finance the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad, the Kyrgyz government's press service said.
The total cost of the railway construction project is estimated at $4.7 billion.
Approximately $2.3 billion will be provided by the Chinese side as a 35-year loan to the joint venture. The loan will be repaid directly by the company. The remaining US$2.3 billion will be contributed by the parties to the company's authorized capital in the following ratio: China (51%), Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan (24.5%) each.
The project includes the construction of 50 bridges and 29 tunnels with total length of 120 km. Thus, approximately 40% of the entire route will be bridges and tunnels. The total length of the railway in Kyrgyzstan will be 304 km.
