Yerevan deputy mayor detained on corruption charges

Armenian law enforcement officers have detained one of the deputy mayors of Yerevan, Gevorg Simonyan.

Ten more people implicated in the corrupt scheme were also detained.

Earlier, employees of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia searched his office.

The search was carried out within the framework of criminal proceedings launched in connection with alleged misuse during the coronavirus pandemic.
