Russia supports the joint decision of Azerbaijan and Armenia to dissolve the OSCE Minsk Group, the Permanent Representative of Russia to the organization Alexander Lukashevich stated.

He clarified that the dissolution will be finalized by December 2025, affecting three structures: the Minsk Group itself, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, and the High-Level Planning Group.

"Considering the position of the parties on the inexpediency of their preservation, we see no reason to prevent their dissolution",

Lukashevich said.

In addition, the Russian Permanent Representative explained how exactly the liquidation of the OSCE Minsk Group will take place. According to Lukashevich, the OSCE Permanent Council recommended member states "tacitly consent" to approve the ministerial decision. If no objections arise by September 1, the resolution will be adopted.

"It is necessary to take into account that the implementation of administrative and financial measures related to the implementation of this decision will take several months. The OSCE expects to complete them no later than December of this year. After which all three structures that were responsible for facilitating the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement should cease to exist",

Alexander Lukashevich said.

This follows Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers Jeyhun Bayramov and Ararat Mirzoyan's joint appeal to the OSCE weeks ago, submitted during their US visit.
