Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon opened the meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Heads of State Council in Dushanbe.
"We are always pleased to welcome friends and partners with whom we share common interests and aspirations for developing cooperation... I declare the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State open",
Emomali Rahmon stated.
At a meeting with the heads of CIS countries, he announced that during the year of Tajikistan's presidency, the Commonwealth's attention was focused on strengthening cooperation in the area of security.
"Appropriate attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in the security sphere, particularly in addressing security risks and threats",
Emomali Rahmon said.
Rahmon expressed confidence that member states would develop solutions "aimed at further strengthening the Commonwealth's potential".
He noted that the year of the republic's chairmanship of the CIS was marked by the expansion of economic and transport cooperation and digital integration.
"Dozens of events at various levels and formats were held. Priority attention was given to improving the organization's activities, and work continued to expand trade and economic cooperation, develop transport and logistics connectivity, and digital integration",

The summit attendees include the presidents of Tajikistan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Armenia's Prime Minister.
