Today, the first group of former internally displaced persons is returning to the Azerbaijani city of Khankendi in the Karabakh economic region.

The return of the first group of former internally displaced persons to their hometown is being carried out in accordance with the instructions of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

At this stage, 36 families, or 162 people, have been resettled to the city of Khankendi. People returning to Khankendi today had previously been living temporarily in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative facilities across various regions of the country.

On December 20, the first group of former IDPs (30 families, totaling 117 people,) arrived in Karkijahan settlement of Khankendi.
