An earthquake struck Kazakhstan during the night of October 5–6, the country's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
According to the ministry, the quake's intensity reached 2–4 points on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the tremors was located 465 kilometers southwest of Almaty, while the hypicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers.
According to the seismologists, the earthquake's magnitude reached 5.9. The quake was felt by residents of the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions.
No damage or casualties have been reported.
