Europe faces potential loss of Qatari LNG supplies

QatarEnergy CEO and Energy Minister Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi has warned that Qatar may halt LNG exports to the European Union.

The minister identified the EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, mandating comprehensive supply chain sustainability verification, as the primary barrier to continued LNG shipments.

Al-Kaabi presented EU authorities with a clear choice between facilitating investment through regulatory simplification or maintaining new requirements that may deter foreign investors.

The minister emphasized these regulations impact all business sectors, with European consumers ultimately bearing the greatest negative consequences.
