An earthquake occurred in eastern Afghanistan on Thursday.
According to the European Mediterranean Seismic Centre, the quake reached a magnitude of 6.1, though this was later adjusted to 5.6.
The epicentre was located 41 km from the city of Jalalabad, which has a population of 200,000, and 109 km from the Pakistani city of Peshawar, home to 1.9 million people. The hypocenter was at a depth of 10 km.
No casualties have been reported.
This follows a powerful 6.2-magnitude quake that struck 50 kilometers from Jalalabad on September 1, which resulted in 1,400 fatalities and destroyed over 8,000 homes.
