US President Trump affirmed that a US-Iran deal would be acceptable if Iran abandons its nuclear weapons program.
According to Trump, Tehran is engaged in serious negotiations with Washington. He expressed hope that Iran would agree to terms acceptable to the USA.
The American leader does not believe that a US renunciation of a strike on Iran will strengthen the Iranian leadership.
"Well, some people think that and some people don't. And if you could make a negotiated deal that would be satisfactory with no nuclear weapons they should do that. But I don't know that they will",
Donald Trump said.
This statement comes after the U.S. deployed a substantial naval force to the region in late January. At that time, the President stated he expected Iran to negotiate and conclude a "fair and equitable" deal under which it would renounce nuclear weapons.
