US increases buckwheat import from Russia

US companies doubled buckwheat imports from Russia. In total, the US purchased $1.5 mln worth of the grain in the first 9 months of 2025.

The US doubled its buckwheat imports from Russia in September, the US Statistics Service informs.

In the first month of autumn, the US companies imported over $200,000 worth of buckwheat from Russia. In August, this figure reached $121,000. Over the year, imports increased by almost 5%.

In the first 9 months of the year, the US imported $1.5 mln worth of buckwheat from Russia. Russia is the main supplier of buckwheat to the US. Canada is second, its export is estimated at $1.4 million.
