Washington announces Baku's consent to send peacekeepers to Gaza

According to US Permanent Representative to the UN Michael Waltz, Azerbaijan agreed to send peacekeepers to the Gaza Strip. Earlier, Hikmet Hajiyev stated that a final decision had not yet been made.

US ambassador to the UN Michael Waltz issued a statement announcing Azerbaijan's agreement to participate in the international peacekeeping contingent in the Gaza Strip.

The diplomat recalled that US President Donald Trump's peace plan calls for the creation of an International Stabilization Force. Waltz stated that it would be undesirable for these to be the US troops, and that the return of Israeli troops would mark a full-scale war and the failure of normalization.
