Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of nearly 3,500 convicts, according to Iranian media reports.
According to them, the decision to pardon or commute the sentences of 3,458 convicts was made in honor of the birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad and Imam Jafar bin Muhammad al-Sadiq.
Earlier, the cases against these citizens were reviewed by a special judicial committee, and after the judiciary head's approval, the list was submitted to Khamenei for final authorization.
