Russia welcomes the October 26 meeting between Iran’s leadership and representatives of the Mecca Pact countries, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.
"Constructive dialogue between neighbors, rebuilding mutual trust and respecting one another’s security interests are extremely important. This approach underpins Russia’s concept for collective security in the Persian Gulf, which aims to help establish an indivisible security architecture in this strategically important region, free from destructive outside interference," Maria Zakharova said.
Earlier, IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohebi said that Iran is ready to offer to sign security agreements with Arab countries. According to him, countries of the region have realized that U.S. bases "are of no good for them," and the Mecca Agreement is a clear example of that.
