The number of merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to just four on Thursday, according to Reuters.

That is well below the average of around 16 vessels per day recorded over the previous 10 days.

Data from Kpler shows three ships were heading towards the strait, while another was in the process of leaving the area. The figures may be incomplete, however, as some vessels cross the strait with their signalling devices switched off.
