The United States has developed plans for a potential attack on Iran. One option under consideration includes large-scale strikes against government institutions of the Islamic Republic and IRGC facilities.

The Pentagon and the White House have unveiled jointly developed plans for an attack on Iran, according to informed sources.

"Trump has received briefings on attack options developed in tandem by the White House and Pentagon," The Wall Street Journal reports.

The publication highlights that among them is the so-called big plan, which would see the U.S. strike facilities of the government and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in a large-scale bombing campaign, likely involving assets from both the U.S. Air Force and Navy.

Less-involved options include strikes on symbolic regime targets, allowing space for the bombings to ramp up if Iran doesn't agree to end its nuclear work.

The report also notes that Washington is currently keeping its strategic objectives confidential.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that the U.S. aim to pressure Iran into rolling back its nuclear program, ceasing uranium enrichment, and limiting ballistic missile development.

According to the newspaper, should negotiations fail, the U.S. could attack nuclear and missile facilities in Iran. Operations aimed at weakening the Iranian leadership and U.S. military raids on sites inside Iran are also possible.
