Kazakhstan will raise prices for gasoline and diesel fuel in the country from April 12, Bolat Akchulakov, Acting Energy Minister of the country, said.

This order will be adopted immediately: according to the document, the prices for AI-92 and AI-93 gasoline will be increased from 182-187 to 205 tenge per liter, it will increase by 11%. Diesel fuel will rise even more in price. It will grow by an average of 20% and will cost 295 tenge per liter, while now, depending on the region, it is sold from 230 to 260 tenge per liter, AiF-Kazakhstan reports.

"The draft order will be published today. If the difference in prices is not reduced now, then we will face a total shortage of fuel in the near future. It will close the way for further development of the industry and threaten the country's energy security", Akchulakov stressed.

According to the Acting Minister, such measures are being taken to stabilize the domestic fuel and lubricants market, since the price difference between Kazakhstan and neighboring countries is too large.

"We must take a difficult, but at the same time necessary step - to raise the maximum retail prices", the minister added.
