US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that Washington had introduced visa restrictions against individuals whom the USA accused of "being responsible for or complicit in undermining democracy in Georgia".
According to him, those responsible for suppressing civil society and freedom of peaceful assembly in Georgia through intimidation and violence will be subject to the restrictions.
Blinken believes that those who undermine democratic processes or institutions in Georgia are not eligible for US visas or entry into the US.
The statement also says that the restrictions will also apply to relatives of individuals who “undermine democracy in Georgia.”
Earlier, Blinken announced that Washington was reviewing bilateral cooperation with Tbilisi. He expressed hope that Georgia would review the bill on foreign agents.
