Russia commits $9 billion in financing for Türkiye's Akkuyu NPP

Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar confirmed the new financial commitment from Russia for the Akkuyu project.

"Russia has provided approximately $9 billion in new financing for the Akkuyu project",

Bayraktar stated.

The minister explained that Türkiye planned to utilize these funds in 2026 and 2027, with an expected allocation of $4-5 billion next year.

Bayraktar also confirmed Türkiye's intention to commission the plant's first reactor in 2026, enabling it to begin electricity generation next year.
